Equation (equation)
Description
The result of the expression you type here will be stored in the response table and NOT the result(s) of the expressions typed in the question textbox. For example, you may want to display several expressions in the question textbox to display the respondents some statistics about herself. However, if you wish to store something like a "secret value" at the same time, then type the desired expression in this field.
Imagine that you wish to display the weight, height, and BMI of the respondent. If you wish to calculate just the weight/height ratio without letting the respondents know this and store it in a response table, type in the equation field: {weightkg/tall}.
Hint: Unlike all other question types, if an equation is hidden, it is still computed, its value being stored in the database.
Valid values
- Any text. The Expression Manager syntax can also be used (with surrounding curly braces).
