Basics

Carsten Schmitz lives and works as an IT project leader in Hamburg, Germany and can be reached at carsten.schmitz [at]] limesurvey.org. He likes extreme hiking, biking and geocaching - though his rare spare time is mostly dedicated to his family.

History

Carsten originally joined the PHPSurveyor project as a translator in 2004, but gradually started working more and more on bugfixes and support.

In February 2005 Carsten began to lean into the lead project role and in 2006 the full project was transferred to him by the founder Jason Cleeland.

Carsten then renamed the project to LimeSurvey and in 2010 created LimeService, a first hosting offer specifically for LimeSurvey. Later this service was renamed to LimeSurvey Professional. In 2015 the LimeSurvey GmbH was founded by a partner and him - the online hosting was renamed to LimeSurvey Cloud. Carsten is currently CTO of LimeSurvey GmbH.
